Our Purpose
The Safe Start Program is an assessment and intervention program for families with children ages 2-11 in Harford County that provides behavioral management techniques, stress management, problem-solving, budgeting, communication, and organization skills. The 90- to 120-day program focuses on preventing child abuse and neglect by providing a continuum of services that support and strengthen families through screenings, referrals, and intervention services either in the family home or in the community. Prior to discharge, wrap-around services can be arranged with various agencies in Harford County depending upon what services are still needed.
Who We Serve
The Program also makes referrals to partner agencies for GED preparation, speech and developmental evaluations, job placement, maternal and child health education, psycho-educational groups, respite and substance abuse groups.
