Catholic Charities and Local Musical Standouts Deliver Christmas Concerts Directly to Your Inbox in a Month-Long Virtual HolidayCelebration
Baltimore, Md. – ‘Tis the season for Christmas trees adorned with candy canes and stars, bells of holly, Christmas lights and plenty of Christmas carolers.
We may not have carolers at our door this year, but Catholic Charities will bring the gift of music to your home this holiday season.
This December, Catholic Charities is showering the community with free virtual gifts every day, including miniature concerts from local standouts like the Mount Vernon Camerata, comprised of members of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra; the Morgan State University Choir; and the Baltimore Choral Arts Society.
“Baltimore Choral Arts is so grateful to spread the joy of music to the Catholic Charities family during this holiday season with this special online performance,” said Anthony Blake Clark, music director for Baltimore Choral Arts. “This year has been tough for everyone, but we hope that by hearing and seeing this Christmas performance, your heart will be a little less heavy and your spirits will be uplifted.”
The series, hosted at comfortandjoy2020.org will feature musical acts every Wednesday and is presented by McCormick & Company.
“It is always a pleasure and joy to partner with Catholic Charities for its Christmas celebration,” said Dr. Eric Conway, director of the Morgan State University Choir. “One could argue Catholic Charities is the charity of all charities, and we are honored to be part of the month-long series bringing Christmas joy to the community. The Morgan State University Choir hopes our music will be encouraging to the souls of those listening during this pandemic, as we pray we inspire a soulful perspective of the Christmas season to warm the soul.”
Comfort & Joy is designed to be a celebration that brings our various communities together, no matter their circumstances. The communal collaboration of this month-long virtual gift is deliberate, to highlight the power of community to improve lives.
“All of us need a pick-me-up right now,” said Clark. “While hope is just around the corner, this wintedr is going to be tough. I hope this series is a bright spot and gives us the hope that the Christmas story is all about.”
